How to Get to Park Guell in Barcelona
Park Guell sits on Carmel Hill, above the Gracia district, so it takes a little planning to reach. The site is not next to a metro stop, and the last stretch is uphill. This guide walks through every realistic option, from the metro plus a short climb to the Bus Guell shuttle that drops you near the main entrance.
By metro
The two closest metro stations are Lesseps and Vallcarca, both on the green line L3. From Lesseps it is about a 20 minute walk that climbs steadily through residential streets. From Vallcarca the walk is shorter but steeper, and there are public outdoor escalators on Baixada de la Gloria that take some of the effort out of the final climb.
If you are arriving from the city center, take L3 toward Trinitat Nova and get off at Vallcarca for the escalators or Lesseps for the gentler grade. Allow 25 to 30 minutes from Plaza Catalunya including the walk.
By city bus and Bus Guell
Barcelona city buses 24 and 92 stop close to the park entrances on Carrer d Olot, which saves most of the uphill walk. Bus 24 runs from Plaza Catalunya and is the most direct public option for many visitors.
There is also a dedicated Bus Guell shuttle that connects Alfons X metro station on the yellow line L4 with the main entrance. It is a small, low cost shuttle designed for park visitors and is the easiest door to door public option.
By taxi or rideshare
A taxi from the center takes 15 to 20 minutes depending on traffic and drops you at the upper entrance on Carretera del Carmel, which is the flattest arrival of all. This is the most comfortable choice if you have limited mobility, are traveling with small children, or simply want to skip the climb.
Walking and what to wear
However you arrive, expect some walking on slopes and uneven paths inside the park. Wear comfortable shoes with grip, bring water in summer, and give yourself a few extra minutes so you reach your timed entry slot relaxed rather than rushed.
